If you read Andy Beasley’s review of stud finders and wall scanners in the latest issue of Fine Homebuilding and set out to the store to pick up his top-rated tool, the Bosch GMS 120, you were likely disappointed. The tool hasn’t been released yet and isn’t available in stores. Although we were assured the tool would be available by the time the issue went to print, Bosch pushed back the release date. There is good news, though. You don’t have to wait long. Bosch has told us that the GMS 120 will be available in stores starting on February 1st, which is this Wednesday.

Any update? I still can't find this in the US.
February 11th and no sign of it anywhere in stores or on the net.
Sad news. I talked with a Bosch customer service guy who said the GMS 120 wall scanner will only be sold in Europe! Please, someone tell me I/he was wrong. I can not believe FineHomebuilding would have done such a fine review of this product if we could not EASILY buy it.
GMS 120 by Bosch is no where to be found, except in Europe.
Very disappointed to find the Bosch GMS 120 will not be available in the US. Fine Homebuilding was premature on this one and didn't do their homework. How about a follow-up article providing scanners you can actually purchase without traveling to Europe?
Got this response when i contacted Bosch:
"Thank you for writing and for your interest in the GMS120 Wall Scanner. At this time the scanner is not currently available. We anticipate that it will be available later this year. Unfortunately, a specific release date is not yet set."
I have been holding off on a project until I could get my hands on the GMS 120. I guess the February 1st date was a bum steer. I would think that Fine Homebuilding would be able to get an honest answer from Bosch, as they represent the core of the US construction tradesmen who are going to purchase this. Has anyone reading this ever purchased Bosch tools from a UK Web site?
Talked to Bosch today. They said the GMS120 was released a month ago at the Concrete Show in Las Vegas. The Bosch catalog number is: 0601081010. The woman told me any Bosch dealer can order from their dealer using the number above and there are plenty to go around.
I just ordered one from my local H/D $65. They called Bosch directly and got the SKU #. I was told about 2 weeks. We'll see... Hope this helps.
Good news!! I am holding my own GMS 120 as I attempt to write this note. All that shawjd1 wrote worked with my local tool supplier. I am pleased to see H/D was able to get one for 65 bucks...I paid 79. Bet I am the first in my neighborhood to own one!!
