Azek’s new two-part Universal Skirt Board product includes a PVC water table with a kerf along the top edge that accepts an included plastic drip cap. The drip cap acts as a universal interface system for several types of siding. A flexible PVC flap just below the nailing flange replaces the starter strip needed for clapboard, shingle, and fiber-cement siding. Beneath the flexible flap is a rigid hook that replaces the starter strip needed for vinyl-siding installation. Cost of two-part setup is about $4 to $5 per lin. ft., depending on 6-in. or 8-in. width.
