Keep Your Truck Tailgate Clear With a Simple Gravel Shield
Don't let the back of your pickup get jammed up with soil or stone dust. Chuck Miller shares a tip for making a movable cover to keep your tailgate free of debris.
A better way to keep gravel from getting between between your pickup’s bed and tailgate
If you have a project that needs a load of gravel, sand, or stone dust, you’re probably going to shovel it out of the back of your truck bed. You could let the gravel fill up the trough and pick out the gravel pieces one by one before you close the tailgate, but there’s a better way.
This is a tip from Clyde Kennedy from Rushville, OH. Clyde has figured out a simple way to avoid that problem.
Keep a strip of aluminum flashing as wide as your truck’s tailgate under your bed liner. When it’s time to unload the bed, slide the aluminum out over the gap between the bed and the tailgate. That way when you’re scraping gravel out, none of it gets in the trough. Empty the gravel, push the aluminum flashing back in place, handy storage, bed closed, job done.
That’s a great tip Clyde, thanks
