I’m down in North Carolina right now photographing a few projects for the magazine. It seems like a marathon trying to shoot 3 projects between Washington D.C. and Brevard, NC in 4 days, but projects like this kitchen remodel make it all worth it.
This is young Chapel Hill architect Reid Highley’s kitchen. It will be appearing in our annual Kitchens & Baths issue. We were drawn to the project for several reasons. Here are two. First, the cost of the entire remodel (including appliances) defies the results Reid achieved. How low? For now, I’ll just say that Reid came in below his $10K budget. Second, the kitchen is small and functional. Reid used a couple of smart strategies to make the space feel larger than it is and to make it meet the demands of his tiny, 800 sq.ft. home.
Check out the article for more photos and to see what Reid has to say about designing a small, beautiful, functional kitchen on an ultra tight budget.

I hope he puts a pan with a drain under the washing machine.Otherwise, the kitchen looks very good for the cost.
I realize that part of this is the skill of your photographer, but this looks like it should take up half the house. Would it be possible to see a floor plan and and maybe some more photos online here? Under 10,000 - amazing.
Matsquu: Keep your eye out for the next Kitchens & Baths issue. This kitchen will be featured in there. We'll have more photos, cost breakdown and floor plans. Thanks for your comments.
