When glue is wet or you quickly need a third hand, you reach for clamps. There is nothing more annoying, though, than finding a clamp either completely open or closed and having to spin it quickly one way or the other just to get started.
For the past handful of years, I have taken to setting my clamps at the halfway point when I hang them back on the tool rack. I do this for all my clamps, including C-clamps, bar clamps, and pipe clamps. With each clamp in the midpoint of its travel, I never have to go too much in either direction.
I build exhibits for museums, and my budgets are always tight. Time is money, and these little things add up to make jobs go more smoothly and quickly.
