Even after narrowing down the list of available 7 1/4-in. sidewinders currently on the market, we still ended up with 14 tools to test.
We had to make a decision:
Option 1 – Pack all 14 saws into the print version of the article, knowing full well that each review would have to be cut down dramatically in length and detail.
Option 2 – Include only the 7 best saws in the print version of the article, but include all 14 reviews in our ever-growing Tool Guide.

Available in 2- to 12-in. widths, this is a good general-purpose flashing tape that sticks well to most things. It features a two-piece release paper, water-shedding layers, and good UV resistance.
This heat gun is great for drying joint compound, primer and paint when patching drywall and plaster walls. Plus it can soften adhesive, get a very cold small engine to start, and shrink heat-shrink tubing.
Hmph. I am offended! Well, not really. But no mention of the Festool tracksaws? At least the DeWalt copy is shown, so that is something.
My Festool TS5 earned its keep while building my house. It made cutting subfloor pieces simpler and quicker - no measuring in many cases. It made trimming the T&G roof decking simpler, safer and faster. It quickly and safely cut formica to rough size.
All with no mess.
I like to give a review, but I'm really looking for a review on the 5 1/2 in. circular saws. I can't seem to find what I'm looking for in that category. Thanks, Mike Stewart
I promise I will be nice, however it is late march of 2013 and you are still advertising a 2011 tool guide. I know if I wait you will be out with the NEW tool guide but I need a new circular saw now and the DW396CSK I wanted is MF discontinued.
Oh well I should have replaced my old saw earlier.
