I’ve talked a lot about sound proofing on my blog (and video’s) and it’s always a popular topic. Here’s a few links to videos of my use of Quiet Rock and Green Glue and a post-install test of Quiet Rock. These are excellent solutions for sound control but they aren’t always in my client’s budgets. So, I want to present some inexpensive ways to mitigate sound. These solutions range from $25 to $1000 and can make a huge difference in achieving a home that’s dramatically quieter than standard construction practices.
In this video I’m using Quick Rock’s QuietPutty to sound seal around penetrations, I’ll also show you the use of Cast Iron plumbing drains, and I’ll demonstrate the use of double sheetrock as well as 5/8″ sheetrock vs the standard 1/2″ rock.
