After determining recently that I needed to change the wheel on my grinder, I realized that I had left the grinder’s spanner wrench at a site 20 miles away. My Vise-Grip couldn’t get a good enough grip on the lock nut to release it, so I grabbed a stainless-steel hose clamp from my toolbox and tightened it around the nut. A quick tap with a hammer on the clamp’s screwhead released the nut easily. After changing wheels, a couple of taps in the reverse direction tightened the nut, and I was able to begin my grinding job.
