Portable-tablesaw enhancements
Most of the time, my Rousseau tablesaw stand is the perfect partner for my portable Makita tablesaw. It has an excellent fence, and the wide top helps when I’m ripping sheet goods. When I’m ripping heavy sheets of plywood or lengthy pieces of 2×4 stock, though, the saw sometimes wants to tip away from me.
As shown in the drawing above, I overcame that problem by drilling a 3⁄16-in. hole in all four table legs, about 2 in. from their ends. I then screwed 4-ft. 2x4s to the legs. I also built a 4-ft. folding outfeed table with folding legs that hooks onto the fence’s crossbar. I also keep a bungee cord wrapped around the saw to hold a contractor’s garbage bag in place to catch most of the dust.
