Standing back and looking at a freshly painted or tiled wall can be one of the more satisfying points of an interior project. But when it’s time to fill the electrical boxes with switches and outlets, you might feel like you’re defacing a newly painted canvas with splotches of random color. Now, thanks to Lutron, the decision doesn’t have to be whether white or off-white is the lesser evil.
Switches, dimmers, receptacles, cable and phone jacks, and wall plates—available in a variety of style—can be found in 42 colors and in gloss, satin, matte, and metal finishes. All of Lutron’s coverplates are screwless and seamless, and they have no visible hardware. Custom coloring in a matte finish is also available. You typically won’t find them at big-box stores, but a variety of products can be ordered through Lutron’s online store (lutronstore.com).
