If you are in the habit of marking your measurements on the side of your tape measure you could just buy a sticky pad and be done with it, but there’s a better way.

Another way to do it is to glue a piece of plain white Formica to the side of your tape measure. The sample swatches they give away at the big box stores are ideal. You can erase it with your thumb.
That works good, however I use the same tape measure that is in the clip, and just write on the black rubber bottom and sides, a quick rub with my thumb erases the numbers! No modification needed!
You guys like to work too hard.
I just write on the back of the blade.
It works- try it! Even tapes with the slippery coating.
Be careful what you are measuring! It looks like the staff could use this tip. (Watch the close up's in Chuck's video)
I got shown that buy a bloke I worked with 25years ago. I teach it to anyone who works with me now. One of the most time saving ideas ever.
I didn't watch the whole video. I clean mine off with a bit of fine grit sand paper. I always keep that in my nail pocket for my hammer face to keep it clean. But I have never had the tape blade last longer than the case for a number of years now. Is it just me or is the quality of things like squares and tapes, rulers etc even nail sets gone down hill?
