If I don’t have a compass handy and need to draw a small arc or circle, I reach for a reciprocating-saw blade. As shown in the drawing above, I tack a nail in the hole in the blade’s tang and place the pencil tip in the appropriate notch between its teeth. This also works with jigsaw blades and hacksaw blades.
