Project House: Built-in Bookcases, Ep. 3 – Building Doors
Justin and Mike split up to hang the cabinets and cut and assemble the doors
Justin starts the prep work for the doors by cutting the pieces to length while Mike Maines installs the bookcase cabinets. Mike first scribes the face frames for a perfect fit on the old walls. He trims the excess frame just up to the scribe line and fine tunes the fit with a block plane. When the cabinets are up and the cuts are made, Mike and Justin start building the panel doors and overpanel. Mike uses a domino joiner to speed up the process and maintain the alignment of frames and panels. At the end of a long day, they’re ready to fit and install the doors and overpanel.
