Like most people, it’s easy for me to remember where I was and what I was doing on September 11, 2001. I happened to be making this photograph of a beautiful bathroom overlooking Menemsha Pond on Martha’s Vineyard. Such a peaceful morning in such an idyllic spot. I can remember clearly the way that tranquility was shattered when someone from the office of Mark Hutker Architects (my client for this shoot and the designer of this house) called to tell us to turn on the TV because something bad was happening and we needed to pay attention. They were right. It’s now 13 years later and the conflict continues to rage and even escalate. A change of president and other political players hasn’t seemed to change anything. We just can’t seem to get along, and the beat goes on…..
