In a small house, every decision is balanced against the square feet that will be required to execute the design. On this Douglas-fir vanity cabinet, an 18-1⁄2-in.-sq. apron sink is nested alongside the uppermost drawer, which bumps up the total interior storage of the vanity to more than 8 cu. ft. and provides more continuous counter space than if the sink had been centered. On the right side, an extended countertop overhang has an integrated towel bar.
