A Pantry That Blends into the Cabinetry
This walk-in pantry is cleverly disguised in the kitchen's galley-style work zone.
On a recent kitchen remodel, our client wanted to incorporate a walk-in pantry to the room’s galley-style work zone. We decided to disguise the pantry with oversize cabinet doors rather than a traditional door. The cabinet doors balance the visual weight of the refrigerator on the far side of this run of cabinetry while also directly connecting the pantry with the kitchen.

Supported by five European-style hinges, each door has a magnetic catch that allows it to remain open when needed. This project serves as a reminder that with a good cabinetmaker, you can create all kinds of spatial tricks. It helps to think of cabinets as both furniture and architecture, not just wooden boxes.
