Like copper, brass is a “living” finish in its natural state–that is, without protection or polishing, its complexion darkens to a golden brown (picture an old trumpet). Perhaps in defiance of the bright, lacquered brass that was ubiquitous 30 years ago, unprotected brass is now the alloy of the moment. Among converts is Kohler division Kallista, which has introduced two faucet lines–the minimalist “One” and the traditional “Bellis” in a natural brass finish. Both styles are available in kitchen and bath faucets as well as accessories. Faucets feature ceramic-disc valve operation.
Priced about $100 above chrome the custom finish is made to order with a lead time of 16 weeks. They can be ordered through kitchen and bath showrooms; visit Kallista’s website for a list.
