I bought an expensive Stiletto titanium hammer a few years ago, and I love it. Not long after buying it, though, I noticed that the rubber on the handle had begun to loosen from where it meets the bare metal on the shaft. I went back to the store where I had bought the hammer and was told that this problem was common. A repair would take a couple of weeks and cost me $60. I decided to see what I could come up with myself.
My solution turned out to be simple: Loctite PL Premium construction adhesive. I applied a bunch to the joint between the bare metal and the rubber, smoothed it over, and let it cure overnight. The adhesive has to be replaced about once a year, but it’s much easier on my wallet and on my time than the alternative.

Construction adhesive! I would never have thought of that. I would have used duct tape and hay baling wire, but using PL? Now that's downright genius!
Thanks, Mr. Lemay. We just picked up our first Stiletto titanium framing hammer tonight, and will do this as a preventative measure.
