Scores of remodelers rely on telescopic ZipWall poles and plastic sheeting to create dust enclosures for remodeling work. The enclosures-which are a big boost to client satisfaction-work great at containing dust, but unfortunately you’re left with a big pile of plastic destined for the landfill at the end of the job.
I was recently introduced to ZipFast panels as a replacement for plastic sheeting used for remodeling enclosures. These 12-ft.-high nylon panels zip together to create enclosures of any length. The zippers, which join the panels, double as doors for accessing the workspace. According to the maker, the high-quality, machine-washable panels can pay for themselves with seven uses. In addition, they stow easier and set up faster than plastic.
ZipFast panels are available in 2 1/2-ft. ($53), 5-ft. ($69), and 10-ft. ($126) widths. They’re also sold in a Multi-Pack, which includes three 5-ft. panels, one 2 1/2-ft. panel, and a carrying bag for $260. You can learn more at zipwall.com.
