One of the hardest things to do in any professional situation is to inspire others to excel in the work they produce and to exceed their own expectations of what they might accomplish.
Recently, when shooting a home in Minneapolis, the architect spoke with me about how he found working with this client (the homeowner) motivated everyone on the project to “inspire the best work from everyone they hire”.
This led me to thinking about the question of how as artists, craftsmen, contractors and architects work on a project, “what fosters great collaborations?”
Perhaps the secret lies in a combination of the right creative talent- and allowing the space and trust for everyone to express it.
Something to think about in the New Year.
