How to Wire a Bathroom: Make a Code-Compliant Plan
The first step in rough wiring is to make a plan that establishes the location of switches, outlets, and fixtures.
Episode 2: Make a Code-Compliant Plan Like all good building projects, you have to start with a plan that lists where the switches outlets and fixtures are to be located. It’s also the best place to start reviewing the space’s code-compliance. Quite often, the code establishes a minimum that can be improved with a little planning. In this episode, Cliff describes his ideal for a modest-sized bathroom that’s functional, comfortable, and code-compliant, which includes the placement of multiple outlets, assignment of circuits, and lighting strategies.

In the Introduction video, a coil of wire is shown laying on the floor with someone pulling wire from it. That is a big no-no, as it kinks the wire and may even be a code violation. Spools should be mounted on an axle that allow them to spin as wire is pulled from them. If it is a smaller coil, as is shown, a second person should hold the coil and rotate it as the "electrical person" pulls wire from it. Come on guys, this is supposed to be Fine Homebuilding featuring a "master electrician". I'm just Joe Homeowner and even I know better.
