I lost the 1/4-in.-dia. magnet for holding nails in my framing hammer. After looking around for different solutions, I found a magnet of the same size inside one of my old 5/8-in. hex-nut drivers. To get the magnet out, I used an oscillating multitool to cut down the side of the driver’s socket and then across, just below the magnet. I used a cold chisel to crack the magnet free. A drop of two-part epoxy secured the magnet into my hammer.

Not to sound like a jerk, but why not just buy a rare earth button magnet replacement off of eBay for a buck rather than trash a nice magnetized hex drive?
