If you need to cut wooden plugs on a job site and there’s no drill press handy, you could struggle to use the your drill and plug cutter freehand, but there’s a better way.
Percy W. Blandford, Stratford-upon-Avon, England came up with a simple jig to quickly and accurately cut plugs on a job site. He takes a piece or one by stock and drills a hole through it, the same diameter as the plug cutter. Next, he puts guides on the jig to secure the jig to the stock he’ll be using to make the plugs. Then, he uses the jig as guide to quickly hand-drill the plugs with the plug cutter.
