When approached by a client to design a writer’s studio, architect Carol A.Wilson, FAIA of Falmouth, Maine created this remarkable structure designed for low impact on the fragile ecostructure around Somes Sound on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. The building sits on a concrete pedestal with only a small piece of the entrance actually touching the ground. Inside the spaces are dramatic, with spectacular views of the treetops, mountains and water visible through enormous floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors on the south side manufactured by Oslo. The minimal modernist furniture completes the overall beauty of the interiors. Very nice….
