UV Resources’ Hornet is designed to bring ultraviolet air purification to residential and light commercial applications (up to 5 tons). The Hornet operates at 24-volt, and the 17-in. lamp is a 20-watt device. According to the manufacturer, the Hornet “emits shortwave, or germicidal ‘C’-type wavelength to attack and break down microorganisms that impede HVAC system efficiency, as well as contribute to allergies, poor indoor air quality and airborne-transmitted disease.”
An indicator, called the light pipe, provides a visual that the lamp is functioning. The included lamp is a Phillips 17-in. 20-watt bulb, and UV Resources states a 12-in. 16 watt bump may be substituted.
The Hornet installs on the exterior of the HVAC plenum, and the UV lamp sits in the airstream. No ductwork needs to be reconfigured. A 120 volt to 24 volt power adapter is included, and the adapter features a 6 ft. cord. A 2 7/8-in. hole saw and a soft duct mounting plate are included.
