Bungee cords are for the birds, but we all use them because sometimes we don’t feel like lashing down a load of 2x4s with a trucker’s hitch or grabbing some ratcheting straps to put the squeeze on some PVC pipes. Bungee cords are cheap and easy, but when they go wrong, you could pay with an eye or at least a good whipping. TitanStraps won’t take out an eye, but they are just as easy to use a bungee cord. In fact, they are belt-buckle easy.
These straps have been out for a few years, but the lineup has recently been expanded to offer a better variety of lengths.
The original Super Strap design is slightly over an inch wide and is known as the Industrial Super strap. It is only available in 25-in. lengths.
The new straps are made from the same UV-protected stretchy polyurethane material, but are color coded by length; the current sizes range from 14 inches up to 25 inches.
> Fluorescent blue 14 in.
> Fluorescent yellow 18 in.
> Fluorescent orange 25 in.
TitanStraps states the buckle is manufactured out of heat treated aircraft-grade aluminum.
Using the straps is easy. Make sure the printed logo is facing out and wrap the strap around what you’re securing. Pass the running end through the buckle and double back on the strap the way you came. You’ll quickly see how the metal tongue on the buckle pops in one of the many holes in the strap. The straps can be easily linked together for bigger loads.
The straps are available for less than $8 each and are also sold in four packs.
