If you’re working on a ladder and using a cordless drill or impact driver, you could set the drill on top of the ladder while you’re not using it and risk it falling and injuring yourself or the tool, but there’s a better way.
Curt Lions of Ft. Collins, Colo., sent us this helpful tip. Curt secures the drill to the ladder using a piece of 4-in. PVC pipe that he attached vertically to his ladder. He simply cut a relief in the PVC pipe to nest the drill and to prevent the trigger from going off. Then, he drilled two holes through the side of the pipe and the ladder to attach the rig with screws.

Great idea from Curt!
One could also cut keyhole slots in the PVC; this would allow its removal to make storing the ladder easier, and for use on your other ladder.
Great idea, but drilling holes into a ladder is a violation of the manufacturers warranty and a violation of the OSHA regulations.
I really doubt too many homeowners will see OSHA, or even know who OSHA is. However if you're really concerned about weakening the ladder...use a couple of S/S clamps.
