This 165 year old Greek Revival house is one of only a few original historic homes left in the area. The kitchen layout was changed and a high ceiling was created, giving the room a dramatic, airy feeling. A small addition was also created providing a perfect spot for a table where people can dine, read, work on their laptops and watch the birds on the outside feeders. The warm wood tones and light-colored walls make this house feel open and contemporary while still keeping the integrity of its vintage. What you don’t see in this photo, is the reworking of the electrical and plumbing systems that were brought up to code. Given the limitations of a typical rough cut 2×4 wall, spray foam insulation was installed in all of the exposed walls on the first floor. The insulation continued into the roof of the addition as well as the basement walls. New Marvin six-over-six windows were installed to replace the worn out vinyl replacement windows.
