Mastercraft Maximum Drywall Axe
Make marking and scoring drywall faster and easier with this useful 3-in-1 tool.
Building professionals might think this tool has a bit of the “As seen on TV” look, but there might be some real utility with the Mastercraft Maximum Drywall Axe. The Drywall Axe combines a carpenter’s pencil, utility knife, and tape measure into one tool designed to make marking and scoring drywall a lot faster and easier.
Canadian Adam Pauze invented this tool after cutting himself while working a drywall job. In fact, he states he came up with the concept the same day he wounded himself. Pauze describes his start in developing this tool and bringing it to market as having gotten off to a bit of a rocky start. Once he was aligned with the right people, Pauze was soon winning awards at trade shows and also being awarded U.S. patents.
The Drywall Axe features a built-in measuring tape that extends out the side of the tool and locks in place. The oversized foot on the tape measure serves as a guide for running the tool down a length of a sheet of drywall or other sheet goods.
The utility blade is retractable and the casing also holds a carpenter’s pencil for marking. For durability, the casing is made out of die-cast metal and the handle has a rubberized ABS grip.
The Drywall Axe is available exclusively at Canadian Tire.

Tool looks like a great idea but the reviews are bad. There are quality issues galore. I would add this to my tool chest but it has to be an improved design first.
