If you need to open up a bundle of fiberglass insulation, you could just slice the bag with a utility knife and let the whole compressed package explode, but there’s a better way. Scott Knowles, of Vasalia, Calif., is a remodeling contractor, and he often needs one or two pieces of fiberglass insulation to finish a job. To keep the rest of the bundle intact, Scott slices a large X across the bundle, allowing the batts to be pulled out like tissues from a box.
