Backflashing Fold-out Window Flanges
Fold-out window flanges have open corners. As a backup to the stick-on patch piece we backflash the flanges with flexible flashing tape.
The window flanges on the Integrity windows we’re using are shipped folded flat against the frames. When folded out the corners are open.
There are patch pieces supplied that are applied to the outside corners after the windows are fastened to the wall but the pieces don’t stick particularly well in the cold we’ve been experiencing lately. As a back up measure I like to flash fold-out flanges from the backside before installing the windows.
Addy has been the lead-guy managing the backflashing operation. He’s trained 4 other guys how to backflash the windows and become very efficient after 20 units.
