Attention to Detail
Coffered ceilings, ornate trim work, and beautiful paneled walls are a delight to the eye
A few years ago, I was assigned to photograph a house in northwestern Connecticut—a house rich in detail. Built in the late 1800s, it had beautiful detailing throughout, as shown in this photograph looking through an arch to a stair landing. Coffered ceilings, ornate trim work, and beautiful paneled walls contributed to the overall beauty of the woodwork in the house. The original builder was obviously schooled in carpentry and architecture, and had created a house that is still a delight to the eye.

Compare this to modern "high end" housing. Well, there really is no comparison.
I do think there is a resurgence in craftsmanship and care that I've never seen before. The internet has proven to be an amazing means of learning and sharing knowledge. We have a long way to go to match this though.
