A custom fabricated fireplace surround with a “painterly” finish is the focal point in this space. The process, described by the artisan that fabricated the piece, is as follows:
The site is surveyed, a 3D model is made, steel is water-jet cut, sandblasted, sanded and patined with a custom patina solution. The surface is then sealed with Clear Guard lacquer and maintained with metal wax, resulting in a rich painterly finish.
