The Big Picture
This dramatic wrap-around porch offers sweeping views of the Atlantic.
Architect John Morris of Camden, Maine created this dramatic wrap-around porch on the second story of a new house his office designed on the rocky coast of Maine. The sweeping views take in a broad panorama of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the beautiful island of Monhegan in the distance. The steel and bright wood railing give security as well as the pleasant look and feel of varnished mahogany. The beadboard ceiling is fir and the siding shingles are cedar. Stone columns support the porch adding another natural material that is indigenous to the region. A wonderful place to just sit and enjoy the view!
