Hidden Straps for Safety Glasses
A retractable key chain gets the job done.
I use safety glasses whenever I’m working with power tools, and then I lay them down and sometimes forget where I put them. I use a retractable key chain to hold my CamelBak drinking tube and keep it from flopping around when I’m out mountain biking, and decided the same fix would also work for my glasses. I simply drilled a couple of holes in the ends of my glasses and attached a retractable key chain, which clips to my hat.

Pretty cool.
I would argue that you should wear safety glasses ALL THE TIME when you're working in construction, for a couple of reasons. Construction activities can suddenly turn dangerous when you least expect it and, if you're like me, you'll forget to put on your safety glasses until you find yourself squinting and pretending you have industrial strength eyelids. Same principle applies to hearing protection.
