Bulletproof Baseboard Radiation
Made from extruded aluminum with a white powder-coated finish, the radiator covers are well made and expensive.
Although OverBoards baseboard radiator covers (go-overboard.com) are suitable for new construction, they’re really made for installation over existing rusty or beat-up covers. Made from extruded aluminum with a white powder-coated finish, the 8-1/4-in.-tall covers install without the need to remove the back of the old cover. The company custom-cuts every order to the nearest 1/8 in. and offers cast-aluminum end caps and corners to match. At $70 per ft. and with caps starting at $90 each, OverBoards could be considered an extravagance. In fact, when I heard the price, I wasn’t sure if the name referred to the product’s ability to fit over existing baseboard radiators or the jaw-dropping cost, but after considering how well they’re made (in the United States) and the fact that you don’t necessarily need to install them in your entire house, the price seems fair. For commercial projects, I think they make a lot of sense.
