Architect Stephen Blatt of Portland, Maine, took full advantage of a spectacular lakeside building site when asked to design a new house for a client in western Maine. The site, a small peninsula jutting out into the water, offered dramatic views of the entire lake. Blatt’s design took the best of traditional architectural forms and added new features. The result is a house that looks right at home in the lineage of Maine camp architecture. Shingled siding, sharply angled dormers, modest scale and an open roofed porch make a wonderful combination and gave the homeowner a sweet little lake house that perfectly suits the one in a million location ….
