A Remodel Offers New Views, Lots of Light, and a Warm Fire
This house was reconfigured to feature amazing views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.
There was so much potential in the dark, under-utilized rooms of the first floor of this outdated contemporary style house. Top of the list for the new homeowners was to open up the living room and dining area to expose the amazing views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. A new dormer was built to break up the slope of the cathedral ceiling in the living room and let even more of the gorgeous view in. The room was completely reoriented to face west. The pot belly stove was removed, but the existing stone feature chimney was kept. New finishes complement the existing stone chimney and a new gas fireplace was positioned on the north wall with built-in seating and shelving; it’s a great place to read and enjoy the outdoor views of the changing seasons of New England. Rustic, wide plank white oak flooring was used throughout unifying and creating a clean look and feel.
