Bosch Daredevil Drill Bits
These hex-shank bits drill all sort of materials, from aluminum to masonry.
With a strong resemblance to standard masonry bits, these impact-rated bits promise to get through most materials. The manufacturer claims that you can drill through brick, concrete block, tile, cementitious tile backer, wood, PVC, and aluminum. Testing reveals the bit does great on masonry, but drills slowly through wood and aluminum. A set like the one shown, with bits sized from 5/32-in. to 3/8-in., sells for about $20.

good one for the tool box to install all those random drywall plugs that you need all over the house. my old place had lath & plaster that was killer on bits, and some walls plastered right over brick. are they available in Canada yet?
Could see that bit bending in an impressive curve, yet it didn't break. Still, if you want a masonary bit, I'd like to see a comparison between these and those. I've worn out masonry bits in a single use and never hit rebar. Sure made a nice, neat hole in that paver. Was that an impact driver set high enough that the bit still didn't engage the impact function? If i was drill a lot of wood, would think that bit would slow production.
Yes KasilofLeif, I used an impact driver. Usually with small bits, the impact function doesn't engage, unless the bit binds. And yes, it drilled very slow in wood compared to a regular twist bit.
I just sent an email to Bosch TrorontoBoyJim, asking if the bits are available in Canada. I'll let you know what they say.
Yes, according to Bosch, the bits are available at The Home Depot stores in Canada TorontoBoyJim.
