Perfect Pencil Sharpener

Tool Review: Kum Long Point Pencil Sharpener is a definite step up from a standard sharpener.

It’s the simple tools that are the hardest to improve, but the Kum Long Point Pencil Sharpener is a definite step up from a standard sharpener. The tool has a pair of holes designed for two-stage sharpening. The first hole shaves away the wood, leaving the pencil lead untouched. The second hole shaves just the lead, leaving an incredibly sharp point. The two-stage setup is excellent for builders because it allows the user to tailor the pencil tip to the job at hand. Step one yields a snub-nosed lead suitable for framing. For a fine line for finish carpentry, include the second step. At around $5, it’s hard to beat.
