Drying Painted Shelves
A better way to paint and let shelves dry.
My method of drying shelves is to insert a long drywall screw in the end of each board, about 11/2 in. from the edge. I rest the screws on two parallel sawhorses, allowing the board to hang in a vertical position. To paint a board’s side and edge, I rest it on a clamp attached to one sawhorse as shown in the drawing below. Then I flip the board 180° to paint the other side. After I finish each board, I move it back to hanging vertically. Using this trick, I can get a lot done in a small space.
