Keep Your Hammer from Slipping Out of Sweaty Hands
An adhesive designed for repairing shoes also makes a great DIY handle grip.
After nearly losing my grip on my hammer because of sweaty hands, I found a way around the problem. I got out my tube of Shoe GOO (typically used to repair shoes and found at my local hardware store) and proceeded to put seven or eight continuous beads of the goo around the portion where my hand goes. It did the trick.

I use tennis racquet handle tape and it works great.
Look at the MSDS for Shoe Goo. I wouldn't want to be putting my sweaty hands on it all day long even in the cured form. There's no doubt the stuff is getting into your pores and on your face.
