We asked you to tag us on Instagram in posts with photos of you working with your kids or your dad using #FHBDads, telling us in the caption how you #KeepCraftAlive. The 1st-prize winner was chosen from our editors’ favorite photo/caption combos and will win a Makita impact driver valued at $295. Nine other winners were selected at random to receive a Keep Craft Alive t-shirt.

Phil wrote: “With Father’s Day coming up in a few days my wife was asking me what I would like to do. I said I would like to build something with the kids a backyard project kinda thing. (Fingers crossed she let’s me build a treehouse)

These pictures are some of the moments I enjoy most with my kids and wish I had pictures from when I was their age and working with my dad. They might seem like brief moments but they are truly what made me who I am.⠀
My dad was a hardworking man and a hard man to impress, always telling me how I could of done something better. He never meant it in a bad way but to simply try to help and it did help. I didn’t realize it then but it taught me to question how to improve anything I do in life. You will not fail because the only way to fail is to give up so as long as you keep trying you will forever be improving.⠀

This past year I completed a project that involved custom building 3 bow windows that were 9’wide by 6’tall that I milled out of 2×6 mahogany and finally got a impressed reaction from my dad and told me they were perfect. Might not seem like anything to you all but it was big to me.

Pictures here are me and my kids over the past year working on many different projects and I hope to teach them pride and a creative thinking that they can solve any problem they may face by thinking outside the box. •⠀
