Sheathing Specialist
DeWalt's new cordless circular saw is designed for an easier reach across panel products.
I got a chance to try this sweet little saw at the show. I made two cuts, which were just enough to know I wanted one immediately. Designed primarily for cutting sheathing, the DeWalt DCS571 cordless circular saw has a 41⁄2-in. blade mounted on the left side of the motor and a stretched housing that makes it easier to reach across panel products. It’s powered by DeWalt’s 20v Max battery, and the manufacturer claims it can cut 369 lin. ft. of 3⁄4-in. OSB when connected to a 5-amp/hr. pack.
- Max depth of cut: 11⁄2 in. at 90°; 3⁄4 in. at 45°.
- Long trigger allows you to “choke up” when necessary
- $270 (kit with charger and one 5-amp/hr. battery)
