Makeshift Hex-Head Driver
A three-jaw chuck drives hex-head concrete screws in a pinch.
I needed to run a couple of hex-head concrete screws into a granite slab, but I didn’t have the driver bit. Unwilling to run out for the right bit, I looked at the six-sided hex heads, and then at the three-jaw chuck on my cordless drill, and my cranial light bulb went off. I chucked the hex-head screws into my drill, set it to low speed, and drove them all the way into the granite. This isn’t the solution for a lot of concrete screws, but with just a few to handle, it kept my day on schedule.
