Cutting Small Tile
Cutting small tiles comes with extra challenges. Learn how a simple addition to your saw's sliding table can make cutting small tile easier.
I recently had a job that required me to cut through pieces of small-stone pebble tile. Small offcuts would get caught in the groove of the saw’s sliding table, complicating the situation. So I added a 1/4-in.-thick plywood backer board on top of the sliding table. I set the saw to make a 1/16-in.-deep cut in the plywood. With the thin plywood, I’m still able to clamp my tile stop to the fence of my saw if I need to make repetitive cuts. The plywood backer board stays put because of the surface tension of the water that is constantly placed on it.
