Trip-Saving Tool Hauler
This combination wheelbarrow and dolly from Worx shines as a tool cart.
The Worx Aerocart may seem like the DIY-est of infomercial-type wheelbarrows, but it’s not just a way to move mulch around the backyard—as a tool cart, it shines. I’m a deck and outdoor specialist, so I spend a lot of time lugging tools and supplies into backyards, and hauling trash out. Typical wheelbarrows are too big to live in my truck, but the Aerocart isn’t much larger than a folding hand truck and stores vertically, so it take up little space. Moving my everyday tools—portable tablesaw, impact drivers, chargers, and tool pouch—is a snap in the Aerocart. It’s remarkably adept at holding my miter saw and a cord or two as I wheel (not dead lift) the stuff to its prescribed spot.
The Aerocart is not just a wheelbarrow—clip down a metal plate and voilà, it’s a hand truck, which I used to move a 12-ft. raised garden bed. The cart’s two wheels have never-flat tires, which I wish had more give, but the cart is stable over less-than-perfect landscapes. There’s even a snow-blade attachment that works better than a shovel for light powder. The Aerocart costs $300, so it’s far from free. But measured in trips not taken to and from the truck, it’s offered a pretty good return on my investment.
