Rust-Free Paint Lids
Add a small bead of oil around the recess where the can meets the lid.
Have you ever tried opening a used can of paint only to find that the lid has rusted and contaminated the paint? Try this before you store your next gallon of paint. Once the lid has been sealed shut, add a small bead of oil around the recess where the can meets the lid. It will create a better seal, keep the lid from rusting, and help make the paint can easier to open the next time you use it. The type of oil doesn’t matter that much; you could use anything from 3-in-One oil to vegetable oil.
