Precision Framing With Pocket Holes
Pocket holes can be used in framing applications.
Pocket holes are not just for cabinetmakers or furniture builders. We use them all the time in framing applications. In this case we had to add blocking to the existing framing in order to install a Castico shower kit. To ensure that the heavy shower door would be easy to install and would perform flawlessly for decades, it was important that the blocking be plumb and solid as a rock. I would have felt a lot less confident if we had tried to toenail it in place. We just set our Kreg jig to 1-1 ⁄ 2 in. to drill the pilot holes and then used standard construction screws to hold the blocking in place.
