Repurpose Tool Boxes
Remove the inner lining to expose the plastic outer shell.
Some power tools come in plastic boxes that are molded on the inside to specifically fit the tool and its accessories. Often, these boxes won’t fit in my bed-rail-mounted storage boxes on my truck, so I pack the tools into other boxes that do fit. Rather than toss out the empty boxes, I repurpose them by cutting out the molded inner lining with a multitool and a utility knife, adding more storage space that is only limited by the outside shell. Removing the molded lining reduces the stiffness, but they’re fine for medium to light-duty tasks. I use my repurposed boxes for storing less-used tools like my hammer-tacker staplers and for materials like electric devices and cover plates that live on my shop shelves.
